Kol (B) Shamsudin Bin Mahadi

RMAF

With over 35 years of experience spanning air traffic control, national security, and accident investigation, Kol. Shamsudin served with the Royal Malaysian Air Force as an active controller across multiple RMAF ATC units, an Air Traffic Instructor at the RMAF ATC School, and Air Traffic Branch Manager at Air Operations Command Headquarters. He also served as Deputy Secretary for the General Border Committee at the National Security Council, overseeing Malaysia–Thailand and Malaysia–Indonesia border affairs.

Subsequently, he joined the Air Accident Investigation Bureau, contributing to numerous investigations as both Investigator and Investigator-in-Charge. Known for his operational depth, strategic leadership, and rigorous investigative experience, Kol. Shamsudin brings a rare multidisciplinary authority to every course he delivers.

Kol (B) Wan Mohammad Azhar Bin Wan Mamat

RMAF

With over 40 years of comprehensive experience in aviation operations, administration, and air traffic control training, Kol. Wan Azhar employed by the Royal Malaysian Air Force, served with distinction as an Air Traffic Controller, Instructor, and Head of Air Traffic School.

A certified Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) Trainer, he has successfully delivered a wide range of approved courses — from Primary and Aerodrome Control to Approach Surveillance, Search and Rescue, and On-the-Job Training Instructor programmes. He has also served as a panel member for ATC practical examinations representing AVAC. Known for his professionalism, warmth, and meticulous attention to detail, Kol. Wan Azhar brings four decades of frontline and instructional authority to every course he delivers.

Air Traffic Controller

D. Thangiah A/L R. Devadass worked as an Air Traffic Control Officer with the Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia for more than 40 years, gaining ratings in Aerodrome, Approach, Area Control, and Combined Radar disciplines. As an ICAO-trained OJT Techniques instructor and certified On-the-Job Training Coach, he expanded his knowledge by taking specific courses in flow management, radar simulation, and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Workshop (RVSM).

He continued to train both domestic and foreign students at MAVA Sepang as an ATC instructor after his service. Thangiah combines a unique blend of frontline ATC expertise and instructional excellence to every course he teaches. He is well-known for his extensive operational experience and dedication to creating high-quality training materials.

With over 40 years of experience in civil aviation, Mohd Salihin Bin Hj Yahya served as an Air Traffic Control Officer with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, accumulating ratings across five disciplines — Aerodrome, Approach, Area Procedural, Area Radar, and Approach Radar Control.

Throughout his career he held roles as a Flight Information Service controller, Area Control controller, Airspace Development Officer overseeing international and domestic airspace, Airspace Manager, and Safety Management System Manager.

Known for his breadth of operational ratings and steady progression through some of Malaysia’s most critical ATC positions, Salihin brings four decades of hands-on expertise and institutional knowledge to every course he delivers.

Nasaruddin Bin A. Hamid

Air Traffic Controller

Nasaruddin bin A. Hamid worked as an Air Traffic Control Officer for the Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia for more than thirty years. He earned ratings in the Aerodrome, Approach Procedural, Area Procedural, and Combined Radar Control disciplines at DCA Ipoh, Penang, and the Kuala Lumpur Area Control Center.

He worked in a variety of operational and leadership positions during his career, such as DCA Manager, ATC Examiner, Tower Supervisor at KLIA, Senior Assistant Director for the Inspectorate Division’s Licensing section at DCA Headquarters, and CAAM Manager in Langkawi. Nasaruddin, who is well-known for his extensive background in frontline control, regulatory supervision, and airport administration, offers a comprehensive and knowledgeable viewpoint to each course he teaches.

With over 4 decades of experience in aviation meteorology, Rosli served with the Malaysian Meteorological Department, rising to the grade of Senior Meteorological Supervisor and Lecturer. Throughout his career he held roles as a Senior Meteorological Assistant Officer and Lecturer in Meteorological Subjects, delivering instruction in Upper Air Codes and Observation as well as Surface Observation.

Recognised as a Subject Matter Expert in Aviation Meteorological Personnel by METMalaysia, he brings deep institutional knowledge of meteorological operations and a proven record in training and instruction. Known for his expertise in aviation weather and his dedication to developing competent personnel, Rosli brings both technical authority and instructional experience to every course he delivers.

Pancharatnam Sinamay

With over 37 years of experience as an Air Traffic Controller, Pancharatnam worked in some of Malaysia’s most critical ATC environments, earning ratings in Aerodrome, Approach Procedural, Approach Radar, Area Procedural, and Area Radar Control. He worked as an OJT trainer for new air traffic controllers, an ATC examiner, an ATC flow management controller, a watch manager for area control, and a supervisor for the terminal approach area during his career.

Additionally, he brought practical operational experience into the training setting as an instructor for the Area Procedural Control Course for new ATC intakes. Known for his breadth of ratings across single, dual, and triple runway operations and his extensive background in both examination and instruction, Pancharatnam brings a wealth of frontline expertise and training authority to every course he delivers.

Radhakrishnan Thevar

Radhakrishnan has been an Air Traffic Control Officer with the Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia for more than 42 years. He has worked in some of the most challenging ATC environments in the nation, earning ratings in Aerodrome, Approach Radar, and Area Radar Control for single, dual, and triple runway operations. Over the course of his career, he held positions as TMA Supervisor, Flow Management Controller, OJT Coach for Area and Approach Control, and ATC Incident Investigation Officer.

He regularly oversaw up to 700 aircraft movements per day, including civil, military, and joint military exercise traffic, across two international airports close to TMA. Radhakrishnan brings a distinguished record of operational excellence, supervisory leadership, and safety investigation experience to every course he delivers.

Su’aidi Bin Yusoff

Air Traffic Controller

With more than 40 years of experience in air traffic control operations, airport management, aerodrome standards, and aviation consulting, Su’aidi established a distinguished career with the Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia, working as an Approach, Radar, and Aerodrome Controller at several airports, as well as Tower Supervisor and Watch Manager.

Trained in ICAO aerodrome certification, safety investigation management, competency-based training, and Chicago Convention obligations, Su’aidi also carries the distinction of having conducted inspections across all certified airports in Malaysia and providing advisory services to non-certified airports, unattended airfields, and heliports. he brings a uniquely broad perspective — from the controller’s seat to regulatory oversight and national infrastructure development — to every course he delivers.

Abu Bakar Bin Ali

Air Traffic Controller

Abu Bakar Bin Ali has over 39 years of experience as an Air Traffic Control Officer with the Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation, working in a wide range of airports and gaining extensive frontline operational experience before transitioning to senior management and regulatory leadership. He held positions as DCA Director at Penang International Airport, DCA Manager at Kuala Terengganu, Deputy Director of the Air Transport Division at DCA Headquarters in Putrajaya, and Deputy Director of the Kuala Lumpur Air Traffic Control Center in Subang.

As part of his regulatory responsibilities, he oversaw ground handling and drone regulations and acted as the main point of contact for flight clearance for all flights using Malaysian airspace. Known for his broad operational foundation and his progression through some of the most consequential leadership positions in Malaysian civil aviation, Abu Bakar brings both institutional authority and regulatory depth to every course he delivers.

Azli @ Azmin, who has over 30 years of experience in civil aviation, worked for the Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia as an Air Traffic Control Officer, earning ratings in Aerodrome, Approach, Area Procedural, and Combined Area and Approach Radar Control at Penang International Airport and the Kuala Lumpur Area Control Center. Before moving into senior management positions, such as Assistant Director for Air Traffic Services at DCA Headquarters,

Principal Assistant Director at the Malaysia Aviation Academy and Inspectorate Division, and Deputy Director at the Kuala Lumpur Air Traffic Control Center, he worked in frontline control at Penang, Johor, Subang, and KLATCC. With over 33 years of experience in air traffic control, Thayalan Simon served with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, holding senior management roles as ATC Manager at both Kota Kinabalu ATCC and the Kuala Lumpur Area Control Centre, alongside roles as SAR Officer, ATC Examiner, OJT Officer, DCA Inspectorate Officer, and ATC Safety Incident Investigator for FIR Region II Kota Kinabalu.

A recipient of the Departmental Excellence Award on five occasions, he also developed two in-house software solutions — MASARAS, an automated SAR solution for aeronautical search and rescue operations, and an ANFC/NOTAM backup system. Dr. Suzanna Razali Chan

Commander Maritime (SAR Expert)

With over 11 years of experience in Maritime Search and Rescue instruction, Commander Maritime Dr. Suzanna Razali Chan serves as a Maritime SAR Instructor at AMSAS, delivering courses in SAR Mission Coordination, On Scene Coordination, Fundamentals of Maritime SAR, and Search and Rescue Optimal Planning System to personnel from MMEA, RMN, and other agencies.

A Malaysia representative to SAR meetings at the International Maritime Organization in London and the Cospas-Sarsat Organization in Montreal, she has also led international training programmes under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program and Third Country Technical Cooperation initiative. The first employee in MMEA to hold a PhD and Runner Up for the Women in SAR award at the IMRF Awards 2021, Dr. Suzanna brings a rare combination of academic distinction, operational expertise, and international standing to every course she delivers.

With over 20 years of operational air traffic control experience, Harmizi Mohd Hashim holds a full ATC licence rated across Aerodrome, Approach Procedural and Surveillance, and Area Procedural and Surveillance disciplines. Beginning his career in 1986, he served as Watch Supervisor at the Kuala Lumpur Area Control Centre and played a key role in the MATSMP modernisation programme, contributing to the procurement, installation, and commissioning of new ATC centres and radar systems across Malaysia.

A qualified ICAO Safety Oversight Auditor and ICVM Team Leader, he was seconded by the Malaysian Government to ICAO Headquarters in Montreal, where he led validation missions across multiple member states and managed state portfolios across the MID and EURNAT regions. With over 35 years of experience spanning air traffic control operations and senior aviation management, Johnli Bin Idek served with the Department of Civil Aviation and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, beginning as an operational controller manning Aerodrome, Area Procedural and Radar, and Approach Radar positions at Kota Kinabalu ATCC, including serving as Scene of Mission Coordinator for SAR operations within the Kota Kinabalu FIR.

He progressed through roles as Training Officer, ATC Check Officer, Safety Officer, and ATCC Watch Manager before rising to DCA Manager Kota Kinabalu, Deputy Regional Director for both DCA Region 1 and Region 2, and ultimately Regional Director for CAAM Region 2 — overseeing the successful implementation of the new Thales ATM System across the Kota Kinabalu FIR and leading DCA Sabah through its transition into CAAM Sabah. With over three decades of experience in civil aviation, Tay Siew Huang served as a qualified Air Traffic Control Officer with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, accumulating ratings across Aerodrome, Approach Procedural and Radar, and Area Procedural and Radar Control disciplines at Subang, Langkawi, and KLIA, alongside qualifications as a Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator at the Kuala Lumpur Rescue Coordination Centre.

A qualified ISO auditor, ICAO English Language Proficiency Rater, and certified ICAO Safety Oversight Auditor, she retired from government service as Director of ANS Standards before continuing as Technical Expert-Coordinator for CAAM’s Task Force on the FAA-IASA. Known for her breadth of operational ratings and her extensive background in aviation safety and regulatory oversight, Tay Siew Huang brings both technical depth and institutional authority to every course she delivers.
