Procedures for Air Navigation Services – Aircraft Operations (PANS OPS) Basic Refresher

Course Overview
This refresher course addresses the natural decay of technical knowledge over time and bridges the gap between older conventional design practices and the latest satellite-driven requirements.
Participants will reinforce their core design logic, review recent ICAO Doc 8168 amendments, evaluate advanced satellite concepts (SBAS/GBAS), and master the intricacies of modern flight navigation database coding.
Participants will refresh their grasp of the latest ICAO Doc 8168 amendments, validate PBN designs incorporating Baro-VNAV, SBAS, and GBAS parameters, and audit ARINC 424 coding and AIP documentation for compliance.

Rigorous Evaluation Standards
Final Written Exam: A final written and practical knowledge evaluation focusing on recent PANS-OPS criteria changes, calculations, and ARINC 424 data validation logic.
Successful participants will receive an official AvAC Procedures for Air Navigation Services – Aircraft Operations (PANS-OPS) Basic Refresher Course certificate, validating their currency in alignment with global ICAO safety oversight frameworks.
Pre-requisite
- Prior qualification and practicing experience as a Flight Procedure Designer (Conventional or PBN), Aeronautical Cartographer, AIP Editorial Officer, Civil Aviation Authority Airspace/Procedure Inspector, or Military Procedure Designer; or
- as determined by Civil Aviation Authority or other states Regulator/ Air Navigation Service Provider.
