Objective

Aims to equip trainees with the knowledge, skills, and attitude needed to operate as an Area Surveillance Controller. The core objective is for trainees to apply operational procedures that ensure a safe, orderly, and expeditious air traffic service in accordance with CAD 1101 (ICAO Doc 4444). Through lectures, guided learning, and simulator exercises, trainees are expected to demonstrate a thorough understanding of ICAO Annex 1 (CAD 1) Personnel Licensing standards. On the practical side, trainees must prove they can manage workload within a defined area of responsibility and apply effective control and planning techniques for all traffic — arriving, holding, departing, and transiting — ultimately preparing them for On-the-Job Training (OJT) leading to validation at an Area Control Surveillance Unit.
