Objective

Aims to equip trainees with the knowledge, skills, and attitude needed to function as an Approach Surveillance Controller. The general objective is for trainees to apply operational procedures that ensure a safe, orderly, and expeditious air traffic service in accordance with CAD 1101 (ICAO Doc 4444). Through a combination of lectures, guided learning, and simulator exercises, trainees are expected to demonstrate a thorough understanding of ICAO Annex 1 (Personnel Licensing) standards, meeting the requirements set by the ATS State Regulatory Authority. Ultimately, the course prepares trainees for On-the-Job Training leading to validation at an Approach Control Surveillance Unit and the award of an ATC Licence/Certificate with an Approach Control Surveillance rating.
