AERODROME CONTROL COURSE
AERODROME CONTROL COURSE (ICAO 052)
This course is designed to impart basic knowledge an Aerodrome Control procedures
and practices based on national and international standards. It does not refer to any
specific ATS unit.
The acquisition of local procedures at a specific unit must take place at the particular unit during the OJT period, in accordance with the Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) of:
• International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)
o ICAO Annex 1 Personnel Licencing
• Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).
Course contents
Note: All participants must achieve a score of 70% or above on all the subject modules.
- Operations Procedure Aerodrome (OPA)
- Communication (COM)
- Human Factors (HUM)
- Abnormal and Emergency Situations (ABES)
- Practical: Aerodrome Control Training Device Simulator (Visual 3D)
Course Objective
Upon completion of this course, trainees will be able to:
1
Provide a safe, expeditious, and orderly flow of at least 9 aircraft within 40 minutes;
2
Apply aerodrome control procedures and techniques;
3
Handle emergency and other abnormal situations;
4
Use correct radiotelephony (RTF) phraseology;
5
Coordinate with other ATS units.
Upon satisfactory demonstrated a level of knowledge appropriate to the privileges granted, participants shall be eligible to obtain an Air Traffic Control rating comprised of the Aerodrome Control Rating categories.
