AERODROME CONTROL COURSE

AERODROME CONTROL COURSE (ICAO 052)

This course is designed to impart basic knowledge an Aerodrome Control procedures
and practices based on national and international standards. It does not refer to any
specific ATS unit.
The acquisition of local procedures at a specific unit must take place at the particular unit during the OJT period, in accordance with the Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) of:


• International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)
o ICAO Annex 1 Personnel Licencing
• Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).

Audience

    Identified trainees by ANSPs who will undergo subsequent ICAO courses to be an ATC personnel.

Pre requisite

    Trainees who have completed and passed the Primary ATC Course (ICAO 051) from an Air Traffic Control – Approved Training Organisation (ATC-ATO).

Language

    English is primarily used in the process of this course

Assessment

    Oral, Theoretical, and Practical (Simulator) Examinations.

Duration & Slots

    This course will take at least 12 weeks and will only have a maximum of 8 per class

  1. Operations Procedure Aerodrome (OPA)
  2. Communication (COM)
  3. Human Factors (HUM)
  4. Abnormal and Emergency Situations (ABES)
  5. Practical: Aerodrome Control Training Device Simulator (Visual 3D)

Course Objective

Upon completion of this course, trainees will be able to:

Upon satisfactory demonstrated a level of knowledge appropriate to the privileges granted, participants shall be eligible to obtain an Air Traffic Control rating comprised of the Aerodrome Control Rating categories.
